The short version: we don’t run accounts, we don’t sell your data, and our tools run in your browser. We measure aggregate site traffic with cookieless analytics, and a couple of preferences and checklist ticks are saved on your own device — never sent to us.

We don’t have user accounts or comment forms, and we don’t sell your data. We measure aggregate site traffic with cookieless analytics, we remember your light/dark theme choice on your own device, our packing checklist remembers which items you’ve ticked on your own device, and when you click an outbound affiliate link, the retailer’s site applies its own privacy policy.

What we collect

Aggregate analytics: we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless — it counts page views in aggregate without identifying you or storing cookies on your device.
Nothing else, by us: no accounts, no comment forms, no tracking pixels of our own. Our interactive tools run entirely in your browser — the answers you enter (trip type, party size, hike distance, and the like) are not sent to us.

What stays on your device

Two things are saved in your browser’s local storage, on your device only:

Your theme preference, under the key campsmarter-theme, so the site loads in your chosen light or dark theme.
Your packing-checklist progress in the Camping Packing Checklist Generator, under the key campsmarter-packing-v1. It records which items you have ticked off for each trip setup you build, so your progress is still there when you come back. Our other tools — including the Camp Kitchen Box Checklist — do not save anything; their checkboxes reset when you leave the page.

Neither value is sent to us. You can clear both at any time by clearing site data / local storage for this site in your browser settings.

Third parties

Affiliate links: clicking a link to a retailer’s site takes you to their site, where their privacy policy applies. Affiliate networks may use cookies to attribute the referral. See our affiliate disclosure for how those links work.
Display advertising: if ads appear on this site, the ad network may use cookies to serve and measure them. We don’t control those.

Changes to this policy

If we ever start collecting anything new — say, a newsletter signup — this page will say so first, with the date updated above. The history: October 2026, first published version.
